What is an internal and distributable pack on PLAYBuilder?

First, let’s define packs. They are packaged content, either made by your organization or content from other organizations, that can be shared internally or externally. Curate a themed content pack that is branded, displayed and distributed on your customized dashboard. Example, imagine you’re a YouTube content creator. You have created your own account with videos that are branded by you. You can choose whether you share across the whole platform or just with a few select friends.

You can either distribute your packs internally to your members, or externally to other organizations to generate revenue. For a more in-depth look at how to generate a revenue stream by distributing your quality content, you can watch this quick video here.

Internal vs. distributable packs

Internal packs: Internal packs are packaged content either made by your organization or another organization. They can only be shared with members of your own organization. Check out this quick 20 second video on internal packs.

Distributable packs: Also referred to as “global packs”, are your packaged content made by your organization that can be shared outside of your organization. They provide a great opportunity to capitalize on your hard work by selling to your fellow sport, recreation and educational organizations! Check out this quick 20 second video on distributable packs.

A success story during the pandemic

We asked Amanda Kornaga, Principal of Good Spirit School Division, how the pandemic affected their programming, and if our software was helpful in mobilizing innovation. This is what she said:

“Yes, it is difficult to have physical meetings so this has helped for sharing resources. It has also helped to streamline resources. When Covid first hit there were a lot of resources created and shared from a variety of people but they weren’t all credible. This has reduced the amount of time I spend sorting through sites. Thank you!”

Why teachers matter to us

As we celebrated teacher appreciation in October, we would like to again thank all the teachers and administrators for all you do. The founding reason we created PLAYBuilder was to get our children and youth active by gaining access to quality physical literacy programming. COVID-19 has made education more precarious and necessitated the need for the switch to complete digital programming. We are currently partnered with several schools, who all utilize the PLAYBuilder platform. PLAYBuilder can be the tool that not only cuts down on wasted time but can help improve the experience of both teachers and students.

Packs – how PLAYBuilder can generate you revenue

For the foreseeable future, people will continue to be encouraged to stay at home. This necessitates access to at-home sport programs and activities. You can create your own activities, lesson plans, progressions and collections. Once you have established the appropriate physical literacy programming, aligned with the standards of your region, the next step is to create packs for distribution. These ‘Global Packs‘ are essentially your branded and packaged content that you can either distribute internally to colleagues, or externally to generate revenue. Take a look at some of the packs Sport for Life has created, which are displayed on our dashboard…

Our at-home digital programming, provides an excellent resource for families stuck at home. You have access to plenty of activities with video demonstrations, all pulled directly from PLAYBuilder. They were curated with the aim of promoting and building physical literacy for youth up to ages 12. It focuses on developing the fundamental movement skills: Body, Locomotor and Object Control and Manipulation. Get your members started on working these three developmental stages of physical literacy:

  • Active Start (ages 0-6): Make the activity FUN and part of the child’s daily routine.
  • FUNdamentals (ages 7-9): Continue developing movement skills, and having FUN on daily a basis.
  • Learn to Train (ages 10-12): Start building fundamental skills in a wide variety of sports.

Our very own Coach Jess, Sport for Life advisor, curated video demonstrations of every single activity. Check out this video for an in-depth look at building Locomotor skills at home:

A recreation perspective

We asked our longtime PLAYBuilder Partner: Why did you choose PLAYBuilder? What was the problem you had that you needed PLAYBuilder to solve?

“HRM chose PLAYBuilder because we helped to design it with municipal recreation in mind. We wanted “one-stop” shopping for our staff to be able to build lesson plans, built from vetted activities, that were developmentally appropriate. This did not exist until the PLAYBuilder was created.”- Damion Stapledon, Community Recreation Coordinator, Halifax Regional Municipality

We hope this post has given you a glimpse into how PLAYBuilder can keep your communities active during COVID-19. It is now important more than ever.
